Because protagonists don\u2019t die, and she has always seen herself as the protagonist of the story.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And she thought rightly. The companion\u2019s the real protagonist of Who in its modern iteration. She just didn\u2019t foresee being in a show that\u2019s all about constantly destroying everything that it is to be reborn again.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I desperately need a meta Clara story of her directly seeing herself in Doctor Who sometime (and having an existential crisis at not being the title character).
