One relationship that I never see enough love for is the relationship between River and Rory. I\u2019m a sucker for father-daughter relationships, and their relationship never ceases to satisfy me. Allow me to tell you why I love them as much as I do.<\/p>\n

Firstly, Rory and Baby Melody interaction time.<\/p>\n

You just do not understand how much I love those moments. Rory comes strolling in with Melody in his arms, and then he just breaks down crying and his eyes get all red and he\u2019s just so emotionally unstable because he\u2019s got a daughter and he just can\u2019t, okay? And then it comes time to confront the headless monks and he takes the time to give his daughter one last kiss because he still can\u2019t quite believe she\u2019s there, and then he goes off to fight, using not one but two weapons for defense. Rory the Roman in action, defending his wife and daughter.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, though, Melody is lost, and it is revealed that she grows up to be River Song. Now Rory\u2019s already met River, but he had no idea she was actually his daughter! I\u2019m sure that must have been a strange feeling, but Rory wastes no time adjusting to it. The very next time he sees her, he\u2019s already just as concerned for her and as protective as he was at Demon\u2019s Run:<\/p>\n

You can see the heartbreak and desperation in his eyes as he watches the soldiers shoot his daughter. He thinks she\u2019s been killed. Little does she know that she can still use her regeneration energy to heal herself.<\/p>\n

The events of Let\u2019s Kill Hitler<\/em> play out, and then both Amy and Rory and River go their separate ways: River to university to become an archeologist and Amy and Rory to continue traveling with the Doctor. They continue to meet in different places and in the wrong order usually, however, and that\u2019s where the similarities between River and her father really shine.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s common for them to share a glance that seems to say \u201cAre you thinking what I\u2019m thinking?\u201d \/ \u201cWhy yes I am! How did you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

\"image\"<\/p>\n

\"image\"<\/p>\n

And surely we cannot forget the time River killed a Silence based off the look on Rory\u2019s face alone:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

That signifies a similarity in thought-process. Their frequent pow-wows and discussions in which they usually always share the same viewpoints further illustrate this point.<\/p>\n

\"image\"<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t forget the \u201cthis won\u2019t hurt a bit!\u201d trick they both like to play on their parents either:<\/p>\n

And last but certainly not least, Rory always seems to know when something is bothering River.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And he\u2019s ready to listen when she needs to spill her deepest and darkest fears.<\/p>\n

These are all the reasons I love the relationship between River and Rory. Melody Pond and Rory Williams: the superhero and the centurion. What a marvelous team.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
