fun and well-written? has she ever thought about actually getting published?<\/li>\n<li>she\u2019s not super serious about writing, it\u2019s not a career dream or anything (she does have a non-writing job she\u2019d like to go back to eventually) but wonders if people would be interested in it so she decides to try self-publishing<\/li>\n<li>she needs cover art though<\/li>\n<li>she jokingly asks grantaire if he\u2019s good at like photoshopping beefcake photos<\/li>\n<li>a few days later he comes back with a stunningly photo-realistic digital painting of her cowboy, shirtless. with like, water droplets clinging to his sculpted abs<\/li>\n<li>she spends a moment being kind of amazed because she\u2019s used to seeing his work in a graphic design capacity, mostly pamphlets or whatever for les amis; she didn\u2019t know he was some kind of wizard with a tablet pen<\/li>\n<li>and then\u2026 \u201coh my GOD R, IS THIS COMBEFERRE??????\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cthis is TERRIBLE I am never going to look at him without wondering if he really looks like this under his grandpa cardigans\u201d<\/li>\n<li>but she decides the image is actually perfect for her story so she might as well use it<\/li>\n<li>R tries to give her a friend discount, but is met with a flat, \u201cno, sit down, you need to eat and I can afford your full rate\u201d<\/li>\n<li>she ends up getting a few sales for this first submission? \u00a0so she keeps writing. \u00a0it comes easily to her after a childhood of making up stories to comfort herself<\/li>\n<li>and it turns out that while cosette is not stunningly popular, she does surprisingly well. she at least ends up making back R\u2019s commission fees<\/li>\n<li>soooo she keeps writing. \u00a0and she keeps comissioning covers.<\/li>\n<li>they end up not telling anyone about this<\/li>\n<li>not because they\u2019re ashamed of it, far from it, but it\u2019s become their private project that\u2019s brought them closer together as friends<\/li>\n<li>and while they\u2019re not ashamed of it, they\u2019re not sure people would quite understand? \u00a0and while sexy cowboy combeferre is loose in the world, it\u2019s just easier not explaining that<\/li>\n<li>and anyway after that first cover, grantaire actually rarely does full-on likenesses of their friends for her heroes and heroines, but he does likes to give them like, assorted recognizable features<\/li>\n<li>for example, the mermaid prince with courf\u2019s dimples<\/li>\n<li>or the warrior maid with a stunningly accurate rendition of enjolras\u2019s amazing sophomore year haircut<\/li>\n<li>the regency rake somehow pulling off jehan\u2019s steely-eyed look of determination<\/li>\n<li>I like the idea of cosette doing this for the fun of it and just going from genre to genre<\/li>\n<li>(for example, there\u2019s like a badass steampunk pirate queen one that she did purely for the worldbuilding<\/li>\n<li>and interestingly enough, R didn\u2019t model the heroine\u2019s physical features off of anyone they know, but she exudes a badass air that reminds them both distinctly of musichetta<\/li>\n<li>after receiving this cover, she heavily revises her outline and suddenly her steampunk pirate queen\u2019s romatic subplot is about her having feelings for both her first mate and ship\u2019s doctor. can they get their act together AND defeat the evil Earl of Seville and his Marmalade Automatons????)<\/li>\n<li>one day she decides to challenge herself and write a paranormal gay romance<\/li>\n<li>\u201cravaged by the bearwolf\u201d<\/li>\n<li>said bearwolf has a very recognizably bahorelian upper body physique<\/li>\n<li>I just\u2026 really like the idea of her staring at his art trying to figure out what friend\u2019s features he\u2019s included this time<\/li>\n<li>it\u2019s like a game for them<\/li>\n<li>for her birthday, he does a joke alternate cover where her billionaire elf businessman is marius<\/li>\n<li>he\u2019s in shirtsleeves but rumpled and unbuttoned, his body twisted in a classic like, comic book T-and-A pose but with a bit less spine breakage<\/li>\n<li>\u201cyou know his freckles don\u2019t actually go down that far?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201chonestly cosette, please don\u2019t critique me on my accuracy because I don\u2019t actually want to know\u201d<\/li>\n<li>she has it pulled up one morning because she just. loves looking at it. \u00a0and then the phone in the kitchen rings or something so she leaves it<\/li>\n<li>and marius pops in because he left a folder on his desk and then is like<\/li>\n<li>WHAT. IS. THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!!!!!!
