{"id":110912,"date":"2016-03-07T19:41:46","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T19:41:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.merindab.com\/private\/2016\/03\/07\/the-last-teabender-i-really-really-love-the\/"},"modified":"2016-03-07T19:41:46","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T19:41:46","slug":"the-last-teabender-i-really-really-love-the","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merindab.com\/private\/2016\/03\/07\/the-last-teabender-i-really-really-love-the\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"tumblr_blog\" href=\"http:\/\/the-last-teabender.tumblr.com\/post\/139869997181\" target=\"_blank\">the-last-teabender<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I really really love the concept in Moffat\u2019s <i>Who<\/i> of \u2018the Doctor\u2019 not as our main character\u2019s true identity, but rather as one he constructed for himself.<\/p>\n<p>It makes me think of him at the Academy, dreaming of being some sort of intergalactic hero instead of whatever waited for him on Gallifrey, creating the name, the role, perhaps even the sort of clothes he\u2019d wear, dreaming up adventures<\/p>\n<p>then stealing a TARDIS and realizing \u2018wait, I can totally BE the Doctor now\u2019<\/p>\n<p>because so much of the Doctor\u2019s personality really is that sort of childlike wonder at the universe, and a very real desire for things to be fair and good<\/p>\n<p>And when you look at the Doctor not as The Doctor but as a runaway kid trying very hard to live up to the imaginary persona he doodled in the back of his notebook, he makes so much sense<\/p>\n<p>and he makes even more sense on those days when being The Doctor is just too hard.<\/p>\n<p>And that makes him even more a hero for the kids watching, because if that\u2019s the case, he\u2019s doing what they all wish they could do \u2013 he\u2019s another kid just like them, trying to grow up into a role he\u2019s imagined for himself, not always managing, but still trying.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah.
