I had a teacher that loved music and we found we had some things in common, so he loaned me his Born in the USA CD (this would have been 1997) and I was just blown away when I actually sat down to listen to it. Growing up I wasn\u2019t, how do I say,\u00a0\u201callowed\u201d to listen to anything secular, anything other than super christian music. So I missed out on a lot growing up. I met my wife in college and she introduced me to Bruce Springsteen and I don\u2019t think either of us expected me to fall in love like I did. I think he\u2019s as politically acute as Bob Dylan but with a poetry, a simultaneous yearning and freedom, that really speaks to the soul. I keep saying that Supernatural should be less Zeppelin, more Springsteen, because that cross-America late-night diner, highway-cruising, searching for hope because you\u2019re riddled with regret vibe is HIS vibe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>and of course I have to add that my favorite quote about Springsteen is by John Stewart (a well known Springsteen dweeb):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/news\/bruce-springsteen-honored-at-kennedy-center-by-mellencamp-vedder-sting-20091230\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>When you listen to Bruce\u2019s music, you aren\u2019t a loser. You are a character in an epic poem \u2026 about losers<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><p>That\u2019s the best quote. My mom\u2019s from Jersey as well and I\u2019m pretty sure she\u2019s been a fan too.
