it\u2019s kinda cool how our generation has created actual tone in the way we write online. like whether we: write properly with perfect grammar, shrthnd everythin, use capitals to emphasise The Point, use extra letters or characters for emotion!!!!!, and much more – it means we can have casual conversations, effectively make jokes using things like sarcasm that\u2019s usually hard to understand without context and much more. this \u201cincorrect English\u201d has really opened avenues of online conversation that isn\u2019t accessible with \u201ccorrect English\u201d which is pretty interesting<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

#this is why attempts by the media to portray online communication by \u201c\u2019\u2018millenials\u201d\u201c really frustrate me <\/a><\/p>\n

#because there are Rules okay <\/a><\/p>\n

My class and I literally taught some of the nuances of this to our english teacher, things such as the difference between\u00a0\u201cyes\u201d and\u00a0\u201cyes.\u201d or\u00a0\u201c..\u201d and\u00a0\u201c\u2026\u201d. It makes perfect sense linguistically that we would create this complexity to ease communication in a medium without body language and tone, but what my teacher was really floored about was that none of this had ever\u00a0\u201clearned\u201d it, we\u2019re\u00a0\u201cnative speakers\u201d of a whole new type of english.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
