OKAY, SO HERE’S THE THING…
I am the sort of person who loves spoilers. I basically knew everything that was going to happen in AoU before I saw it, because I got my friends in the UK who got to see it first to tell me what happened. It doesn’t ruin the thing for me, or my excitement to finally see it for the first time, and I will basically spoil myself on anything I’m looking forward to seeing, if I can.
With CA:TFA, that was basically my one exception. The ONLY thing I allowed myself to know was who was playing Steve Rogers, since he and Bucky have basically been my favorite fictional characters since childhood – but a little more so, Steve.
So I find out it’s Chris Evans. And my first reaction was
Like, it was one of those, “Did I die and go to heaven?” moments, because Chris has legitimately been my favorite actor since this little gem first came out
But ASIDE from him, I refused to hear anything about the movie (thank god I was in University at the time and rarely had much time to use the internet for anything other than research for papers, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been able to avoid it).
SO, the day finally comes, I am freaking the fuck out, and I go see it with some friends. Top row, middle of the aisle – my favorite spot. I’m basically dying inside. Then I see this little punk
And I am practically SHITTING MY PANTS because oMG CHRIS LOOK HOW TINY YOU ARE, YOU’RE SO FUCKING CUTE, STEEB YOU’RE SO WITTLE AND ADORABLE AND OMG THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER
And then this random guy shows up
And I was like
Honestly, my first thought was Arnie Roth, and for a second I got super excited because oMG WAS ARNIE GONNA BE IN THIS MOVIE I MEAN I THOUGHT HE WAS A SAILOR BUT THAT’S FINE I’M STILL OK WITH THIS LOOK HOW CUTE
But then this happened
And I was like
IT’S SEBASTIAN STAN!
Now, I’d been a fan of Sebastian’s for a long-ass time. Thanks to a friend of mine who had basically loved him since Red Doors, I’d known who he was but only vaguely cared. But then this movie happened
And that was that.
So now I’m sitting there momentarily forgetting trying to still figure out who this character is because I’m so busy punching my friend repetitively in the arm and whisper/shouting, “THAT’S SEBASTIAN STAN, THAT’S SEBASTIAN STAN, THAT’S THE GUY FROM THE COVENANT AND GOSSIP GIRL AND OMFG HE’S IN THIS TOO DO YOU SEE HIM!?!?”
And then THIS happened
“The 107th – Sergeant James Barnes”
Aaaaaaaaaand then I was like
IT’S BUCKY BARNES! IT’S FUCKING BUCKY BARNES, sEBASTIAN STAN IS PLAYING BUCKY BARNES AND CH RIS MOTHERFUCKING EVANS IS STEVE AND H O L Y S H I T THAT MEANS THEY ARE THE FACE OF MY OTP
Anyways, needless to say, I didn’t stop squealing and freaking out for the rest of the movie after that and all of my friends hated me. The end.
I love seeing shit like this because for years I felt like I was the only person on EARTH who loved TFA and it took TWS to bring me to MY PEOPLE.
do you ever just passionately miss the first series of doctor who but not just because you miss Nine but because you miss the monsters and the simple story lines that were new and so interesting and the companions that didn’t need a magic back story to be special and weren’t just a new puzzle for the doctor to solve they were just ordinary people with ordinary lives and taught (especially the young viewers) that anyone can be a hero i just really miss season one okay
- They chose the song “staying alive” for moriarty’s ringtone because it LITERALLY meant that sherlock and john got to keep living and that sherlock was faking his death and possibly even that moriarty was faking his death
- They chose the song “sinnerman” for the court scene because they were LITERALLY going to the devil (moriarty)
- They chose the song “December 1963” because john LITERALLY doesn’t even know mary’s real name and his life will LITERALLY never be the same
- But obviously they chose the song “donde estas yolanda” for sherlock and john’s reunion scene—a song which actually contains the lyrics “where have you been…i’ve been looking for you…your lips kissed mine with desire and passion, the passion of a woman…the fire of your lips conquered my heart and i fell in love with you“—-obviously THAT song was totally FIGURATIVE I MEAN
